Sina Entertainment News – The 55th Golden Horse Awards Ceremony will be held in Taipei on November 17th. The Golden Horse Executive Committee held a meeting on Nov. 5th and decided to award the “Special Contribution Award” to the senior film editor Ching-Song Liao, in recognition of his efforts to cultivate and promote new talents as well as the spirit of inheriting and selfless dedication in education. Chairman of Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Ang Lee also acclaimed him as “Well Worth the Prize”.

Ching-Song Liao, who is known as “Liao Sang”, is a master of editing and filmmaking in the film industry. He is also a senior producer and screenwriter. In particular, he has worked closely with many outstanding filmmakers with his exquisite editing skills and was once praised as “Nanny of Taiwan’s New Films”. In recent years, in view of lack of talents in the film industry, he has actively cultivated new talents, and passed on practical experience to them from film editing, producing to teaching. The film industry is very familiar with his extraordinary achievements in feature films. In addition, many documentaries, shorts and even student films have benefited from him, exemplified by documentary union and Women’s Images Society’s joint recommendation of him this time. He spares no effort to offer suggestions to producers lacking resources as well as the communication and improvement of film technologies. After discussion and votes, the Golden Horse Executive Committee decided to award a “Special Contribution Award” to this the master behind the scenes for his painstaking efforts.

Ching-Song Liao is still very creative and productive . Since last July, he has edited more than 20 films. Surprised by the award, he humbly addressed: “I did very simple things – just helping to supervise the films.” But when he said: “ I will spare no efforts to help those in need.” Aged 68, he laughed and said: “I still have a lot of films to edit, and will strive for the Lifetime Achievement Award in my 80s or 90s.”
