Chinese Creative Animation outbreak, Bilibili Releases 40 New Animation Content

On the evening of November 17th, Bilibili (Station B) held the 2019-2020 Bilibili National Animation Launch, presented 40 new productions. Of the 27 new works presented, 13 were originals.

According to the events list, the previously introduced “The Three Body Problem“, “Heavenly God blesses the people “, “Mad for Music  2“, “The Ravages of Time“, “Fan Ren Xiu Xian Zhuanl” announced a new production plan, in which the “The Three Body Problem” announced its first PV, and the film will be launched in 2021.

“Mad for Music“, created by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, has become a youthful memory of many. This time, Station B announced the launch of “Mad for Music  2“.  The new production was produced by the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio and Fu Wei Film.  And will be presented as a brand new original to extend the “I’m a Song  Mania” story of the classic characters.

In addition to the above works, Station B also launched the “The Legend of Luo Xiaohai-Zhongshengmen”, “Shao Nian Ge Xing-Fenghuaxueyue”, “Beans Daily!” Season 3, “The Last Summoner”, “Mao Zhi MIng” and a series of domestic animation with different styles.

In the past year, Station B domestic production growth escalated. In December 2018, Station B held the 1st “MADE BY BILIBILI” Chinese Creation Launch Conference, launching more than 20 Station B led works, within which sci-fi “Incarnation“ has been viewed > 73 million times.

“In 2019, 104 works were launched in The Chinese Creation Zone, matching the supply of Japanese series for the first time,” said COO Li, Vice Chairman and COO of Bilibili, at the Launch. At the same time, The Chinese Creation Zone MAU also surpassed the foreign series for the first time, with total broadcast time of 300+million hours. Domestic productions became Station B’s #1 content group.

By 2022, domestic production and quantity will be of several times that of Japanese series, becoming the mainstream of the animation market and the film market.  And by 2026, animation will become the mainstream of the entire entertainment industry; and by 2030, China’s original animation will go to the world, ahead of the world and popular in the world.

Of course, there are three problems to be solved.  First is the scarcity of original talent.  Second is the positioning cannot meet the needs of the universal population. Third is that overseas content cannot meet the needs of China’s mainstream consumers. These three issues greatly limit the development of the animation market.  If not resolved, animation will never be able to achieve our prediction and expectation.
