Capcom’s Latest Game Project Resistance is a 4v1 Asymmetrical Horror

After a cool looking reveal trailer, Capcom has fully revealed their upcoming title Project resistance at Tokyo Game Show 2019 and it turns out that the game is a 4v1 asymmetrical horror title. It is not like Left 4 Dead at all and it is following the lines of Dead by Daylight or Friday The 13th. It is following the traditional formula where 4 survivors must evade a killer and find their way out.
The brand new trailer revealed by Capcom at TGS 2019 reveals the game in its entirety where the killer is a twisted mastermind who is hell-bent on killing the survivors. The survivors, on the other hand, must use everything they have and work together to escape the facility. The killer uses his own powers to defeat the survivors while the survivors come with their own unique skills.
Each survivor is not just a different skin and is rather a unique character which comes with a unique set of skills. You have Tyrone who is a tank and takes reduced damage, Valerie supports and can heal survivors, Samuel is your damage dealer and can land some serious melee attacks and last but not the least, you have January who is a hacker and can disable security cameras.
However, the Mastermind is not just a brute who is wielding a machete or a chainsaw. Rather, he is sitting in a computer room and is using different switches to make the life of the survivors a living hell. He can spawn different creatures to kill the survivors and impede their progress in the game. He can also turn the lights off to make it dark and blind the survivors. He can also set up traps and lock doors.
Apart from the creatures, he also has camera-mounted turrets to shoot at the survivors. If you think that was enough, it is not. The Mastermind can also control the zombies directly and then you can move around the map like a zombie, finding survivors and eat their brains out. The trailer even shows the Mastermind becoming none other than Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 to make the fight personal if everything else fails.
This is a completely brand new take by Capcom for the franchise and naturally, fans are showing mixed reactions. Project Resistance has been announced at a time when fans were looking forward to Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remastered and not everyone is a fan of this asymmetrical horror formula. However, we will have to wait and see whether this is going to be Capcom’s main game or a Resident Evil game might appear from its shadows.
Capcom has also announced that the console players will be able to jump early and try out the game in a Closed Beta which is planned for next month. The Closed Beta will run from October 4, 2019, to October 4, 2019, on PS4 and Xbox One. There is no word on a PC Closed Beta at this time. Another thing to note here is that Xbox One players who want to jump in the Closed Beta must be a member of Xbox Insider Program.
