Call for Entries for the 2021 Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards!

On December 10th, 2020, the 27th Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards will launch the call for entries, and thecategories of programs – TV Drama, Documentary and Animation- will accept online registration through theofficial website www.stvf.com. The deadline for registration is March 20th, 2021.

The 27th Shanghai TV Festival will be held from June 6th-10th, 2021.

Q&A on Registration

Q:Our program will start broadcast in March of next year. Can I sign up?

A:Yes, you can. Requirements of the regulations on program broadcast: premiered between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021, during which the program must start broadcast but not necessarily end.

Q:Our program is co-produced by a number of companies, so which shall be the one to sign up?

A:If there are multiple producers, you can coordinate with each other and sign up through one of them. When filling out the “Production Information”, please make sure to do so truthfully. The same program can only be registered once.

Q:What formats of program videos and HD clips are required in terms of materials for the program registration?

A:Please provide 1920*1080 high-definition video in mp4, mkv, mov, etc. that are compatible for computer playback.

Q:In terms of the materials for the program registration, high-definition video clips (3 minutes or less) are required, while for the clips for the applicants, there are different versions (30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc.). Which one should we submit?

A:Different versions can be submitted together, as long as the clips meet the “3 minutes or less” requirement.

Q:What occasions will the program materials, posters, autographed stills, etc. (which are required by the regulations) be used on?

A:Program materials, posters, autographed stills, etc. will be used for the Shanghai TV Festival’s official Weibo account, official WeChat public account and official website to promote the registered programs and interact with fans, among other activities.

Q:If a show is still on the air at the time of submission and the last episode sample is not available, is it possible to substitute it with another episode?

A:Yes, if the last episode is temporarily unavailable, any of the episodes can be used for submission first, and the last episode can be added later.

Q:Can I add a logo or watermark to the sample?

A:Yes, you can add it without affecting the viewing.

Q:Do TV dramas/documentaries/animations with English dialogues need to be submitted with Chinese subtitles?

A:TV series/documentaries/animations with English dialogues can be submitted with English subtitles or with no subtitle, without the need to add Chinese subtitles.

Q:Can single-episode animation and animated short films be submitted for the Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards?

A:Yes, as long as they are animated series, single-episode animation or one-off shows premiered between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021, they will be eligible.

Q:Is there a specific requirement for the length of a single-episode documentary?

A:No, there is no time limit for that.
