Animation! Special Call For Female Animation Directors

Animation!, the exclusive space for animation in the Latin American audiovisual market Ventana Sur announces the third edition of the Mentoring Program for Latin American Women Creators.

This program responds to the need to propose actions aimed at gender equity in the animation industry, promoting those projects with women in directorial roles. In addition, one of its focal points is the representation of local stories in pursuit of the dissemination of Latin American talent at a global level.

The Mentoring Program for Women Creators, which has promoted projects from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, proved to be a great tool for Latin American women directors. The intensive training allowed them to enhance their skills and improve their projects to successfully present them at events such as MIFA / Annecy, Quirino Awards and Ventana Sur. In this way, the directors and their teams were able to give their work international exposure.

In addition, the program was acknowledged by WIA (Women in Animation) and was presented at the Women Summit Annecy 2021 with testimonials from mentors and directors, and was recognized as a success story at the Women Summit Annecy 2022.

All Latin American feature and series projects that complete their registration at Animation! Pitching Sessions 2022 and accredit a female director, qualify to take part in this Program.

An international jury will select the five projects that will have access to training given by three international specialists focused on production, script and pitching, which will take place between January and March 2023 and will be conducted virtually.

Once the training stage is over, the directors will have time to incorporate the feedback received and present their pitch. The mentors will choose a project to be presented in a special Animation! program at the MIFA Market at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2023.

This initiative of Animation! Ventana Sur is made possible thanks to the support of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and its MIFA market, the Quirino Ibero-American Animation Awards and the Institut Français d’Argentine.
