Angry Birds studio Outplay cuts 21 staff

Outplay, the studio that developed Gordon Ramsay, Subway Surfers and Angry Birds has cut off 21 employees. With 135 people, the reduction of this Scottish mobile studio affects approximately 15.5% of its staff.
Founded in 2010, the studio is the largest independent mobile game studio in the UK.Outplay Entertainment’s CEO Douglas Hare described the decision as “difficult.”Outplay made the difficult decision to restructure parts of the business, which has affected as many as 21 team members across several departments,”he mentioned, “This step was taken to align our operations with current business realities and to support a strategic shift toward partnering with publishers for future game releases.”
“This was not a decision we took lightly,” Hare continued. “We are incredibly grateful to the talented individuals affected, many of whom have made lasting contributions to our games and culture. We are doing everything we can to support them through this transition.”
Though all its titles, like Angry Birds POP,Subway Surfers Blast,Alien Creeps, Gordon Ramsay: Chef Blast, Mystery Match Village, and Castel Creeps have accumulated over 160 million downloads unfortunately, a trend of laid-off has become something of a permanent fixture across the video game industry in England.
