ABOUT OIAF
OIAF COVID-19 UPDATE
The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) will happen in September. It might not look like it usually does, but maybe it will. No matter what happens, the OIAF will go forward. Our staff are hard at work creating another vibrant, community-building event that showcases some of the world’s most innovative and exciting new animated work. You can bet you’ll see a lot of familiar OIAF programs and opportunities in one form or another.
From September 23-27, 2020, downtown Ottawa will once again be the best place to see the world’s most cutting-edge, thoughtful, funny, and provocative animation films while mingling with many of animation’s most celebrated stars, studios and characters.
The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the leading events of its kind in the world, and the largest in North America. An annual five-day event, the OIAF has been bringing the animation community together in a vibrant hub since 1976. Drawing a total attendance of over 30,000, it attracts artists, producers, students, and animation fans from around the world. Check out the 80+ screenings, talks, exhibitions, and parties taking place in venues across downtown Ottawa.
ABOUT THE POSTER

The Ottawa International Animation Festival will always have a special place in my heart. I was first introduced to the festival in 1996 by Amy Kravitz and Steven Subotnick when they took our RISD senior class to the festival.
That year and every year that I have attended, I make amazing new friends, witness some of the best animation the world has to offer, and participate in some fantastic debauchery. I try to come every year I can and every time I do I am reminded why I love animation and the people who love it, watch it, and create it.
My inspiration for the poster was festival-goers trying to get a front row seat for one of the best animation festivals in the world. Please don’t follow their bad behavior.
