A spiritual successor to Valiant Hearts heads to Steam

Letters of War, a 2D narrative adventure inspired by Valiant Hearts: The Great War and based on a real family story, has been officially announced. The game’s Steam page and debut teaser trailer are now live.
The game tells the story of Liam, a British carpenter who volunteers to fight in World War II, and his daughter Rosie. The game switches between Liam’s role in key WWII battles and Rosie’s quiet struggle at home, where her father’s letters become her only source of comfort.
The project is being developed by a small team based in Kazakhstan and the UK. According to the developers, the game is a way to preserve a personal memory and turn it into something emotional and lasting.

About the Game
Letters of War is a 2D narrative adventure and wartime drama — a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
The game tells a heartfelt story of love, courage, and loss. Inspired by a real family memory, it invites players into the world of Liam — an English carpenter who volunteers for the front to protect his loved ones.
From the beaches of Normandy to the battle for Monte Cassino, players will relive the journey of a soldier in the 8th British Army. All of it is done for Rosie — Liam’s daughter, who copes with life in wartime Britain through the letters she receives from her father.

About the Team
The team was formed in the summer of 2022 and consists of several people. Before that, they worked as freelancers in their own fields. Letters of War is their first independent title.
The main inspiration behind the game is the story of the lead developer’s grandmother. Now 88, she became the starting point for the project — a way for her to see her father’s memory turned into something meaningful and lasting.
