FFAA 2026 Abidjan Animation Film Festival to Open Soon
Theme: “Creativity and Youth Employability” – Empowering Africa’s Future Through Animation

The 2026 Abidjan Animation Film Festival (FFAA) will be held from April 27 to May 3, 2026 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. This year’s edition is themed “Creativity and Youth Employability,” aiming to redefine animation’s leading role in promoting employment and national development worldwide.
Since its founding in 2017, FFAA has grown into a major cultural event for the African and international animation community. Each year, Abidjan becomes the capital of animation, bringing together animation enthusiasts, creators, educators, and industry leaders over several days. After previous editions were affected by the pandemic, the 2026 edition marks a full return to in-person events across multiple landmark venues, including: Majestic Sococé, MASA Headquarters, Majestic Ficgayo, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Six Core Conferences Focusing on Industry Challenges and Youth Opportunities
This year’s festival will feature a series of highquality panel discussions centered on key issues at the intersection of creative industries and youth employment:
Rethinking Training Systems – How to align animation education with the real needs of the creative industries.
Project Funding and Youth Support – Which financing and support models can effectively promote the professional integration of young people?
Freelancing and Digital Platforms – What new forms of employment are emerging for creative youth?
Focus Afrika Toon – Showcasing African animation talent and potential.
The Economics of Web Series – Exploring new business models and career paths.
Additional Exciting Themes – More topics to be announced to meet participant expectations.
Exclusively Animation, Globally Oriented
FFAA is one of the few exclusively animationfocused film festivals in Africa, adhering to an international, diverse, and inclusive vision. Although past editions moved online due to the pandemic, the 2026 edition will be a full inperson revival, offering an immersive platform for dialogue, capacity building, and networking.
The festival currently does not include a marketplace; its focus remains on cultural exchange, skills development, and industry networking.
