SIGGRAPH Asia 2025 Opening Ceremony & Keynote
The excitement continued on Day 2 as Conference Chair Taku Komura officially opened the event with the theme “Generative Renaissance,” encouraging positive engagement with AI. Tomasz Bednarz, SIGGRAPH Asia Conference Advisory Group Chair, emphasized the group’s commitment to inclusivity. ACM SIGGRAPH Chair Darin Grant announced that ACM papers will be freely accessible starting next year. Harry Shum highlighted the trillion-dollar low-altitude economy, citing the operation of around 10,000 drones in Shenzhen and stressing the need for a unified Smart Integrated Low-Altitude System (SILAS).
Press Conference & Media Tour

The official press conference was hosted by Conference Chair Taku Komura to celebrate the incredible contributions of our Program Chairs and to honor the academic community in technology and creativity. Attended by both local and international media, the event concluded with an opportunity to visit FORUM8, Huawei Technologies, Morpho, Vicon, and the Malaysia Pavilion, allowing journalists to gain deeper insights into the cutting-edge technologies and solutions showcased by each exhibitor.
Exhibitor Talk by Pixar’s Renderman Dylan Sisson

Dylan Sisson from Pixar Animation Studios introduced RenderMan XPU, the hybrid CPU + GPU rendering technology used in Toy Story 5. He shared that this groundbreaking technology allowed him to render 72 seconds of animation in just 20 minutes. Attendees enjoyed an exclusive preview of the first 72 seconds of the unreleased film, all rendered in stunning XPU. The session highlighted how RenderMan XPU empowers artists and enhances creative workflows.

Chris Bremble, Founder and CEO of Base Media, shared valuable insights into the creation of Ne Zha 2, one of China’s most popular animated films of the year. He emphasized the growing importance of advanced tools to track artists’ progression and noted that increasing complexity has become the new normal in Chinese animation. ✨
Featured Session: Innovation in a Time of Change – Doing Something Y̶o̶u̶ Never Done Before

Richard Chuang, co-founder of d1n0, delivered an inspiring talk titled “Innovation in a Time of Change – Doing Something You Never Done Before.” Reflecting on his journey in the computer graphics industry, he discussed the evolution from early CG production to the rise of AI, inspiring a new generation of innovators at the crossroads of creativity and technology.
Creating Valuable Global IP

Momo Wang, animation director and creator of Tuzki, energized the audience with her session on “Creating Valuable Global IP.” She highlighted how great characters become cultural icons and discussed the role of AI in character design. Momo’s passion for storytelling and innovation inspired the attendees!

The Trade Exhibition buzzed with energy as attendees explored the various booths and Experience Hall, featuring the Art Gallery, Emerging Technologies, and XR exhibits in Hall 3G. The atmosphere was electric as participants engaged with cutting-edge ideas and connected with industry leaders.
