World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2024

On July 4, the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2024 and the High-level Conference on Artificial Intelligence Global Governance (WAIC 2024) kicked off in Shanghai with the theme of “Promoting sharing through consultation and promoting Good wisdom through Good Governance”.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Association for Science and Technology and the Shanghai Municipal Government, the conference will have four major sections: Conference Forum, exhibition, award competition and intelligent experience. Focus on cutting-edge technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, industrial trends, and good governance and other areas of general concern to the global artificial intelligence industry.

During the conference, there were 10 forums related to global governance, and big people from around the world, such as the United Nations, the United States, and France, gathered to discuss the ethics and safety of AI, and tried to make AI good through technical means. These include UN Under-Secretary-General Chilizi Mawala, Turing Award winner Joshua Bengio, scientific director of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms, and others.

The exhibition area of the conference exceeded 52,000 square meters, focusing on the three major sectors of core technology, intelligent terminal and application empowerment, vividly showing the innovation picture of thousands of industries enabled by artificial intelligence technology, focusing on key areas such as large model, computing power, robot and automatic driving, from the development and application of large model, the frontier exploration of humanoid robot, and the popularization and optimization of AI PC terminal. From the development of intelligent driving technology to the promotion of smart cities, the latest achievements of “artificial intelligence +” innovation application will be showcased, and a number of high-profile innovative products will be launched.Large models have entered the application era, and many technology companies have exhibited the latest AI applications. Taken together, some explore the possibility that everyone can have an AI butler assistant; Some use AI to enable new industrialization; There are also companies that are using computing power to conquer core technologies, and China’s “artificial intelligence +” is showing “new” power. Humanoid robots, large models, low-altitude aircraft, and intelligent AI assistants infused with the “soul” of large models are all hot exhibits this year. At the same time, large models of various institutions and companies continue to emerge, and focus on displaying a number of “artificial intelligence +” innovative application results.

The conference focused on building a talent training platform, holding a dialogue between Chinese and foreign academicians and university presidents, exchange of 100 Yunfan Award winners, talent development assessment, youth artificial intelligence innovation and development, female elite exchange, young scientists discussion and exchange, excellent paper roadshow and other diverse activities. At the same time, the roadshow of emerging open mics and innovative projects will be set up to provide a stage for young new forces to display.

The “SAIL Award” has received more than 200 projects from home and abroad, and the proportion of international projects has reached a new high. The Young Paper Award collected 159 outstanding papers from around the world, with international papers accounting for 10%. The “Yunfan Award” will select young scientific and technological innovation talents who brave the waves in the field of artificial intelligence. In addition, the three major brand events of BPAA’s fourth Global Applied Algorithm Model Model Competition, Youth Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition, and Puyuan Grand Model Challenge will jointly help create a high-quality talent ecology for the AI industry.
The conference is committed to promoting a new era of AI popularization with the participation of all people and creating and sharing.
