Much has changed over the past year and so has Sweden Game Conference. Europe’s leading conference for students, startups and indie developers will go online this year on October 21-23.

“It’s been an interesting and challenging year so far as we work a lot internationally to position our cluster as well as our yearly conference where we want to offer similar opportunities as we have done before” said Magnus Ling, Project Manager for Sweden Game Arena.

Over the years, Sweden Game Arena has expanded its network through participation in international conferences and fairs within the global games industry. These contacts will play an important role when Sweden Game Conference goes digital.

“The ambition is to elevate Swedish computer game startups in an international context through Sweden Game Conference. By inviting Swedish studios and clusters outside our own community everybody will benefit from a bigger body and create opportunities for Swedish computer game startups to grow and expand” said Magnus Ling.

Digital expo

The conference begins with focus on business for startups and indie developers. In addition to talks and panels Sweden Game Arena offers matchmaking, pitching and a digital expo where companies can present their projects to international investors, publishers, and the media within the computer games industry.

“With travling not being recommended this year, we’re lucky that Sweden is a world-leading country in game development. That gives us a great opportunity to find fantastic speakers for the conference just by searching on our own doorstep” said Tau Petersson, Community Overlord for Sweden Game Arena.

Game development students

The conference continues October 22-23 with focus on game students. It will be a combination of live streams for digital attendees and physical presence for students at University of Skövde that will be able to attend in person if preferred. Talks will be based on program orientation such as art, programming, and music along with engaging and inspirational sessions.
