10,197 drones to celebrate National Day
During the National Day in 2024, a stunning drone show was staged over Shenzhen, with 10,197 drones flying in formation in the night sky, forming a variety of breathtaking patterns, bringing a visual feast of perfect integration of technology and art to citizens and tourists.
The drone performance with the theme of “Sky City is possible” not only demonstrated the vigorous development of Shenzhen’s low-altitude economy, but also highlighted China’s strong strength in the field of drone technology. International theme: Bijiashan Park, Futian District, where visitors enjoy the spectacular “sky” of landmark buildings such as the Civic Center and Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, and can also see the earth pattern outlined by the drone formation, symbolizing Shenzhen’s international open mind and inclusive mind. Cultural theme: East Lake Park, Luohu District, integrates traditional culture such as fish lantern dance and Kirin dance with modern innovative culture such as Shenzhen original dance drama Wing Chun through drone formation performance, presenting Shenzhen’s unique cultural charm. Science and Technology theme: Longgang District Universiade Center, lighting up the night sky with futuristic images such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, time and space tunnel to show the charm of Shenzhen’s “science and technology” city. Innovation theme: Guanlan Ecological Movement Commune in Longhua District, with Rubik’s Cube as inspiration, demonstrates the spirit of “innovation” in Shenzhen through visual impact. Vitality theme: Moon Bay Square, Nanao, Dapeng New District, beautiful pictures painted by vitality elements such as waves, music, dance, surfing and sailing are staged in the night sky, showing the unique “vitality” of Shenzhen.
The success of the UAV formation performance is inseparable from China’s breakthroughs in key technologies such as autonomous flight control cluster, control artificial intelligence, high sensitivity arm shape of UAV communication and accurate positioning. The performance created two Guinness World Records for “the most drones controlled by a single computer at the same time” and “the most aerial patterns composed of drones”, which marks that China’s drone technology has walked in the forefront of the world.
The drone show in Shenzhen is not only a visual feast, but also a vivid demonstration of China’s drone technology strength. The success of the Shenzhen National Day 10,000 UAV show not only shows the strong strength of China’s UAV technology, but also points out the direction for the future development of China’s UAV industry.
China has the world’s most complete drone supply chain, with more than 20,000 companies involved, including more than 1,500 in Shenzhen alone. With the continuous progress of technology and the continuous expansion of application fields, China’s UAV industry will usher in broader development prospects. The rapid development and wide application of China’s UAV industry will inject new impetus into economic and social development, and also provide strong support for China’s national defense security and international status.
