Werewolf has risen! The publisher of Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest celebrates the powerful Release Day
Warsaw, 14th October 2020 – Walkabout Games and Different Tales are proud to inform that the release of Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest has met with an enthusiastic reception from both players and critics. On the release day, the game was Trending on Steam and became a Featured title with a 90% positive user review rate.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest is a savage, story-focused, horror game that features extensive narrative branching, with more than 200,000 paths leading to 5 main endings. The player becomes Maia, a young woman who comes to Poland looking for her roots only to end up being drafted into an ancient war.
Heart of the Forest elevates the visual novel genre by adapting the Rage and Willpower mechanics from the legendary tabletop RPG.
Released on October 13th, the game is available on PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam, GOG.com, and GeForce Now, at $14.99 / €12.49 / £11.39. A special 10% discount will be available for 7 days from the day of release.
How Gamers Play Werewolf?
The game features more than 200,000 ways leading to one of the 5 main endings. This lets players deeply personalize their character and playthrough.
Please note that unlike in most games, in Heart of the Forest the character isn’t created in a pre-game menu, but through the decisions made over the course of the entire story.
Surprisingly, despite werewolves being creatures of rage, most of the players chose to play carefully and make calculated decisions.
Ragabash: A child born on the new moon, destined to be a master of stealth, trickery, and guile. Such werewolves are known as “Questioners of the Ways,” and they are granted latitude to break — or at least bend — the rules of Garou society that other werewolves are not.
Theurge: Garou born under the crescent moon. Ritualists, spirit-masters, shamans, and mystics. The wan light of the crescent moon illuminates the spirits and the riddles they tell.
Philodox: Werewolves born under the half-moon. Judges and balancers. Caught between extremes — man and wolf, Garou and human, adaptation and tradition, spirit and flesh — such Garou have to be able to make wise decisions on behalf of their fellows.
Galliards: Werewolves born under the gibbous moon. Renowned for their memories and their creativity, they are destined to be storytellers and lore keepers/
Ahroun: Garou born under the full moon. They are spirit warriors, the deadliest and most vicious of their kind.
Werewolf Trending on Steam
On the release day, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest became a Trending title on Steam with 90% positive user reviews. The game was accompanied by a developer stream, where the players could talk with the creators and learn more about the design, lore, and real-world inspirations.

“A ragingly original wyld ride” – CBR.com
“A unusual combination of visual novel, choice-based game, literature, and a celebrated RPG system. It may be something that we lacked until now – a simulation of a tabletop RPG for PC.” 8/10 – GryOnline.pl
“Relatable characters, an excellent representation of marginalized communities, and a real-world setting make this a believable game that doesn’t hang its entire worth on the supernatural elements. This game is absolutely worth your time.” 8.5/10 – KeenGamer
