THE MARCHÉ DU FILM – FESTIVAL DE CANNES & ANNECY FESTIVAL HOST THE 4TH EDITION OF ANIMATION DAY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ANIMATION! VENTANA SUR
As animation continues to grow in popularity – with more works popping up in cinemas and on streaming platforms every day – new territories and markets are taking note of the versatility and storytelling potential of this rapidly rising genre.
That is why Annecy International Animation Film Festival – the world’s leading reference for animation film – partnered with the Marché du Film in 2019 to create a curated program and one-day event that would feature talks, panel discussions, works-in-progress screenings and networking events specifically catered to the global animation filmmaking community
With in-person events making a grand return this year, the Marché du Film will once again strengthen the presence of animation, thanks to returning partners Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Animation! Ventana Sur – the animation arm of Latin America’s leading audiovisual market Ventana Sur (co-organized by INCAA and the Marché du Film).
The 2022 edition of Animation Day will first kick off with the Annecy Goes to Cannes pitching session: five highly-anticipated works-in-progress in various stages of post-production will be presented by the filmmakers, currently seeking sales agents, distributors or festival exposure for their animation projects.
In addition, Animation Day will offer two conference panels, featuring world-class talent and guest speakers from the animation film industry, thought-provoking discussions on animation’s place in the future cinema landscape.
With the support of the French film promotion organization Unifrance, Animation Day will be followed by a cocktail event where animation film experts and enthusiasts can gather, meet and connect!
Animation Day takes place on Sunday, 22nd May 2022 in Cannes.
(Announcement of event times and guest speakers to be communicated soon!)
Admission on presentation of a Marché du film badge or an invitation.
