The 34th Golden Rooster Award participation rules announced
An award for best foreign language film was established for the first time
Founded in 1981, the Golden Rooster Film Awards is one of the most professional and authoritative film awards events in the Chinese mainland. In 2019, the 28th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival opened in Xiamen, and since then, the Golden Rooster Award has been held in the city for a long time.
Registration began from July 7 to July 30 for the 34th Golden Rooster Awards, which will feature best feature film, best medium – and small-budget feature film, best children’s film, best documentary/scientific and educational film, best opera film, best art film and best foreign language film.
The Best Foreign Language Film award was set up for the first time. Industry insiders said it was a step forward for the Golden Rooster Awards and may also be an important symbol for Chinese films to go global. To be considered for the “Best Foreign Language Film” award at this year’s Golden Rooster Awards, certain conditions must be met: Foreign films that have been examined and approved by the State Film Administration from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021; and have obtained the distribution and screening license; and have been introduced for the first time within two years before the world premiere on June 30, 2021. It will only participate in the selection of the Best Foreign Language Film Award and not participate in the selection of individual awards.
The Golden Rooster Awards are awarded annually and the registration period for this year’s awards will expire on July 30, 2021.
All production units can directly express the required materials to the Golden Rooster Award Evaluation Office of China Film Association, and the application form can be downloaded from the website of China Film Association (www.cfa1949.org.cn).
