OZI, Voice of the forest at Annecy festival: meet Mike Medavoy and Rodrigo Blaas

Meet producers Mike Medavoy and Rodrigo Blaas at Annecy Festival

The French premiere of OZI, VOICE OF THE FOREST, will take place at Annecy Festival on June 13 evening.

Coproduced by GCI Films (UK), Appian Way (USA) and Mikros Animation (France), directed by Tim Harper, created by Keith Chapman and Rodrigo Blaas – OZI, VOICE OF THE FOREST is planning on influencing a new generation to save the planet.

The story of Ozi is based on a truth… 50% of their rainforest has been cleared in the last 22 years. Ozi, an orphaned orangutan, sets out to find her parents in an inspiring voyage of discovery. Together we need to change the ending.

The aim of the producers is to develop these ‘Voices’ to other great causes involving the planet’s future. And to extend Ozi’s family and friends to other animals defending nature and by extension, the future of us all.

Hollywood legend Mike Medavoy (cocreator of Orion Pictures, Chairman of TriStar Pictures, Phoenix Pictures CEO) and producer, director, screenwriter Rodrigo Blaas (Star Wars: Visions, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia), will be attending Annecy Festival as coproducers of OZI, VOICE OF THE FOREST.

Interviews will be possible on June 13 and 14. Please contact me for any request.

Ozi is an orphaned Orangutan who uses her skills as an influencer to save her world from deforestation. Setting out to find of her parents, she sees her rainforest home is being destroyed. The film encourages a new generation to use their voice to protect our world.

To embody the ‘voices’ of the forest, the team has reunited an incredible cast: Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games, Dear Evan Hansen), Laura Dern (the Jurassic Park franchise, Wild at heart), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the galaxy, Blood Diamond), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones, Star Wars-The Acolyte), Urzila Carlson (stand-up comedian), Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games franchise, Don’t look now), RuPaul Charles (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans, Cold Feet), Marissa Anita (Solo Solitude, Gundala), Kemah Bob (stand-up comedian) and Josh Whitehouse (Poldark, Valley Girl).

The Ozi team have built partnerships with established animal welfare and conservation organisations, including International Animal Rescue. The aim is to showcase and support the work they do on the ground in Indonesia and provide funding to help support this work in the future. We have a three-pronged focus of animal welfare, economic support and reforestation. A sizeable percentage of film profits will go directly to these charitable causes.
