Nintendo Switch Online Expands Its Classic Library with SNES Games

It was rumored earlier this year that SNES games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online with the Online subscription. Last night, Nintendo confirmed that SNES games are indeed coming to Switch Online subscription and as of now, the brand new SNES library is live on Nintendo Switch and if you are a subscriber of Nintendo Switch Online, you can head over and jump in 20 new classics right now.
Nintendo Switch Online is a premium service which allows many benefits to its subscribers which are exclusive for the members such as online gaming, cloud saves and exclusive access to NES games. However, now Nintendo has added even more value to the service as now along with NES titles, SNES titles are also part of Nintendo Switch Online. At this point, 20 titles have joined the service.
The complete list of 20 games is below.
- Brawl Brothers
- Demon’s Crest
- Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
- Kirby’s Dream Land 3
- Star Fox
- Super E.D.F. Earth Defense Force
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
- Super Puyo Puyo 2
- Super Tennis
- Breath of Fire
- F-Zero
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- Pilotwings
- Stunt Race FX
- Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
- Super Mario World
- Super Metroid
- Super Soccer
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
You can see that the list has some of the best titles ever released on SNES. However, the real question now arises that will Nintendo add more SNES games in the future because after the initial releases of NES titles, Nintendo kept adding more NES games to Nintendo Switch Online. The initial list is pretty healthy however we would love if some more classic SNES games would come to the service in the future.
In addition, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now purchase a special edition Switch compatible SNES controller as well. Just like the NES controller, the SNES controller is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. All SNES games will support additional features such as local and online co-op along with the rewind feature on Nintendo Switch.
