Narcos: Rise of the Cartels Announced for Release Later This Year
Curve Digital and Kuju have announced that Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, an original video game based on the hit Netflix show Narcos, is releasing later this year. Narcos: Rise of the Cartels is a brutal tactical turn-based strategy game based on the show and it will arrive digitally and physically on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Q4 2019.
In Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, players will be able to relive the events of the first season where players will be able to play as both the Medellin Cartel and the DEA. Both sides of the war will get their own distinct campaigns and players will be able to experience the story of both sides. The game’s story is set in the 1980s Colombia when El Patron’s influence is rapidly expanding.
The country is littered with drugs, corruption and crime are spreading out from the Columbian town of Medellin. The problem is so bad that even America is now taking notice and this sets the backstory of Narcos: Rise of the Cartels. Players will get a choice to help either the drug empire to rise to the top of the world or tipple the growing criminal enterprise as the DEA.
Players will be able to revisit iconic locations and play as iconic characters from the show and experience the criminal underworld with characters such as El Mexicano, Murphy, Peña, Primo and more. Each of the characters come with their own unique abilities and perks which can turn the tide of the battle. Players will be able to take a pivotal role in world-altering events that will decide the end of the war on drugs.
The game offers a brand new approach in the turn-based strategy genre as players will be moving on both sides simultaneously and some brand new mechanics in place such as taking control of their players in a direct third-person camera mode to help them out in critical moments. Players will be able to form their own team from a variety of class-specific roles, upgrade them to make them even better and join the leading characters to dominate the other side.
