Manifold Garden Releasing on PC as an Epic Games Store Exclusive in 2019
William Chyr Studio has announced that their long-awaited exploration puzzle game Manifold Garden is releasing on PC via Epic Games Store in 2019. Manifold Garden will remain an Epic Games Exclusive for 12 months after which it will release on other PC platforms as well in 2020. Players will be able to rediscover gravity and explore an Escher-esque world of impossible architecture this fall when the game comes out.
The developer describes Manifold Garden as a game that reimagines physics and space. Players will get to witness infinity in first-person and master its rules to solve physics-defying puzzles. Players will be required to cultivate a garden to open brand new paths to move forward where an eternal expanse will be waiting for them.
According to the official press release, key features of Manifold Garden include:
- An expansive and visually striking world filled with mind-bending puzzles.
- Manipulate gravity to gain new perspectives and walk on any visible surface.
- Experience space in new ways as you explore infinitely repeating Escher-esque architecture.
The developer also shared information on why they chose an Epic Games exclusivity for the first year. The biggest benefit they received was that Epic allowed the studio to expand the score and polish of the project. With their help, the studio was able to increase the size of the art and design teams. The game is also under the scrutiny of a 3rd party QA studio to help track down and tackle bugs.
Manifold Garden was initially called Relativity and work on the game started back in November 2012 by Willian Chyr. The project was inspired by the M.C. Escher print which depicts a world with multiple gravities. Manifold Garden was backed by Indie Fund in 2015 and has attended more than 20 game conventions. The developer is extremely open about the game development with a devlog dating back to November 2013.
Manifold Garden is slated for release on PC via Epic Games Store in 2020. A PS4 version is confirmed for a later release however additional platforms are under consideration as well.
