Illumination Brings Back Saturday Morning Fun with ‘Minions’ Toons
Illumination, the animation powerhouse behind global hit film franchises Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets, is bringing back the classic cartoon tradition with Saturday Morning Minions — brand-new animated shorts starring the little yellow troublemakers.
Fans can join Illumination on Facebook and Instagram every Saturday for the next 40 weeks (that’s through to March 2022!) to catch new Minions mini-adventures, starting June 5 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET.
Illumination’s next feature film release through Universal will be Sing 2 from returning director Garth Jennings. Following multiple delays, Minions: The Rise of Gru is now slated to bow July 1, 2022. The prequel is being directed by franchise helmer Kyle Balda and co-directed by Brad Ableson (Minions Holiday Special) & Jonathan del Val (The Secret Life of Pets 2). The studio is also working on a feature film inspired by Nintendo’s Mario.
