Identity V Global Esports Finals: Group Stage of Call of the Abyss VII has started!

The global esports finals of NetEase Games’ 1v4 asymmetrical mobile game Identity V have started, where teams from around the world compete in Hangzhou’s Gongshu District, China. The international tournament also known as Call of the Abyss VII (COA VII) runs until May 4 and features a prize pool of up to CNY 4,000,000 (approximately USD 560,000).

Competition Overview

The Identity V – COA VII Global Finals kicked off on April 12 and will conclude on May 4. This year’s event has attracted elite teams from six major divisions: 1) Chinese Mainland Division, 2) Japan Division, 3) Southeast Asia Division, 4) South Korea Division, 5) NA-EU Division, 6) Chinese HK-MO-TW Division. They will compete fiercely on this international stage for the championship title and a prize pool of up to CNY 4,000,000 (approx. USD 560,000).

Qualifier Review

During the qualifier stage, teams from around the world engaged in days of intense competition, showcasing impressive tactics and skills. Teams from China’s Mainland performed exceptionally well, not only demonstrating superior individual skills but also well-coordinated teamwork. Moreover, teams from Southeast Asia Division, Japan Division, and NA-EU Division also made relentless efforts, displaying their unique competitive styles and tactical arrangements, bringing excitement and surprises to the qualifiers.

Group Stage

In the group stage, advancing teams will compete for qualification to the knockout rounds. The group matchups have been set, with Group A featuring the fiercest competition among top professional teams, including ZETA with four consecutive IJL championships and the very powerful team MRC. There are also previous COA champions such as Gr, Chengdu GG, and DOU5. Group B brings together teams from various divisions, including COA veterans RD, RC, and Omni, followed by amateur teams HHDG and Southeast Asian IVC champion FT. The clash of professional and amateur teams, along with different divisions’ play styles, will make Group B’s matchups especially exciting. In addition to China’s Chengdu Wolves and TE, Group C also brings together SZ, a team known for its steady style, B4U with strong supervisory, and the advancing team in the South Korea Division, Cat. Group D also promises a lot of action, with experienced professional teams WBG and FPX.ZQ from the Chinese Mainland Division, and team GH from the Southeast Asia Division, along with teams AWG and AXIZ from the Japan Division, who performed well in the qualifiers. The Group Stage will allow teams to not only showcase their intricate tactics in battles but also the players’ unyielding desire for victory.
