I Have a Question: Yu Zhou

CGGE: Animation World Network
Yu: Yu Zhou, co-founder of Light Chaser Animation
CGGE:Is this the 1st time you have come to Annecy Exhibition?
Yu: It’s the second time that we have come. Last year, our “Tea Pets” came here. This is our second time to Annecy.

CGGE:What do you think is the difference of your gains between this time and last time?
Yu: I’ve been familiar with this town this time, sort of like revisiting the old land. At the same time, I am pleased that our 3rd work “Cats and Peachtopia”was selected officially to be exhibited. So we’re glad to introduce this work to our colleagues in the animation industry worldwide. We also meet with old friends annually at this time.

CGGE:Are there any work you will exhibit on this exhibition this year other than “Tea Pets”?
Yu: Our 4th film is still in production and hasn’t been able to be published. I hope that our 4th film will be selected officially next year. We will introduce more to you at that time.
CGGE:Can you show us the differences between domestic and foreign animation industries?
Yu: Light Chaser Animation has been working for more than 5 years on 3 animation films. Every time I come to Annecy, I feel that the global animation industry is seeking the animation techniques. I’m deeply touched and have many gains. I think today is only the beginning, and I hope that we could have more gains, sharing and communications in the following week. We also hope Chinese animation could have more works of higher quality. We could still see the huge gap between our animation and the other counties’. However, we have huge markets that could develop quickly and have more employees in the industry of animation, more animation lovers and more animation film producers. So we are optimistic about our future.

CGGE:Will Light Chaser Animation seek to cooperate with foreign corporations?
Yu: Yes. Actually the Light Chaser Animation has been very open all the time. We have contacts with the Hollywood, Europe and Southeast Asia. We also look forward to creating some cooperative opportunities that could gain win-win results, including attracting global talents in the animation industry. Light Chaser Animation will still focus on Chinese markets in the following years, so we hope overseas Chinese, whether they are international students or our colleagues working overseas, will join Light Chaser Animation or other domestic companies, since China has such huge markets and offers great opportunities. Welcome back.
