Co-President Andrea Miloro Exits Fox Animation
An
drea Miloro, the veteran animation executive who, along with fellow co-president Robert Baird, oversaw Fox Animation, one of the new divisions Disney acquired as part of its $71.3 billion 21st Century Fox purchase earlier this year, has stepped down. Baird reportedly will remain at the company.
Miloro provided no reason for her departure. In a note sent to Blue Sky Studios’ employees earlier this morning, she wrote, “I am writing today with some news that is difficult to share, but I wanted you to hear it from me: I will be leaving Blue Sky. Blue Sky has always been a force for powerful family entertainment, and for the last 10 years I have loved being a part of the family. While this is the end of my Blue Sky journey, I know that this studio will continue to surpass the very high expectations we set out for ourselves.”
With the Fox acquisition, Blue Sky became the third animation production studio under the Disney umbrella. Since the deal was first announced, industry speculation has been considerable as to whether Disney would keep the studio open, absorb the operations in some fashion, or sell it outright. Recent job cuts at the company have also fueled concerns as to future plans for the Connecticut-based producer of such animated feature film hits as the Ice Age and Rio franchises.
Miloro previously served as senior VP of production at Fox Animation. Prior to her tenure at Fox, she was VP, head of production at Sony Pictures Animation, overseeing production of films like Open Season, Surf’s Up, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania.
