Global Mobile Game Revenue Ranking for August 2025 Released – Outstanding Performance by Chinese Developers

According to the latest data from the authoritative market research firm Sensor Tower, the global mobile game revenue ranking for August 2025 has been officially announced. Chinese game developers once again demonstrated strong capabilities, with multiple companies securing top positions on the list. Tencent and miHoYo, in particular, broke into the top three, highlighting the global competitiveness of China’s gaming industry.
Among the top ten highest-grossing games in August, Chinese developers claimed four spots:
- Tencent’s Honor of Kings maintained its top position, achieving a new monthly revenue record for the year.
- miHoYo’s Genshin Impact returned to the top three, driven by its Version 3.0 update.
- NetEase’s Knives Out continued to perform exceptionally well in the Japanese market.
- Lilith Games’ Dislyte entered the top ten for the first time, thanks to its innovative gameplay.
Notably, Honor of Kings, the global version of Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group-developed Honor of Kings, saw a 35% year-on-year increase in revenue, achieving breakthrough success in European and American markets. By deepening its localized operations and seamlessly integrating Eastern cultural elements with global player preferences, the game has established a new paradigm for the global operation of MOBA mobile games.
Meanwhile, miHoYo’s Genshin Impact generated significant buzz both domestically and internationally with its newly released “Sumeru” map and character events. The game’s daily peak revenue surpassed $20 million, once again demonstrating China’s leading position in the open-world game genre.
Analysts pointed out that the success of Chinese mobile game developers can be attributed to the following factors:
- Continuous increase in R&D investment and significant improvements in technological innovation capabilities.
- Increasingly mature global operation strategies.
- Growing ability to promote cultural exports.
- Remarkable results in cross-platform synergistic development.
According to the latest statistics, the overseas revenue of China’s self-developed games has maintained a growth rate of over 20% for three consecutive years and is expected to exceed $30 billion in 2025. Chinese game companies are reshaping the global mobile gaming market through high-quality content output.
Industry experts stated that the success of Chinese game developers is not only reflected in commercial achievements but has also driven overall progress in the global mobile gaming industry, including gameplay innovation, technological R&D, and operational services, providing players worldwide with a richer entertainment experience.
With the development of new technologies such as 5G and cloud gaming, Chinese game companies are expected to continue leading global innovation trends in emerging fields like the metaverse.
