Overwatch star Matilda Smedius to host NG25 Spring!

If the name Matilda Smedius doesn’t ring a bell, you might want to check your gaming credentials—especially if you’ve missed out on Blizzard’s Overwatch phenomenon. With over 50 million active players hooked on Overwatch 2 since its launch, Smedius has become a household name among gamers worldwide, thanks to her standout voice acting as the hammer-wielding hero Brigitte. Now, she’s trading her shield for a microphone as the main stage host of NG25 Spring!

Nordic Game reveals today that Smedius will take center stage at the Slagthuset venue in Malmö, Sweden, for two of the event’s three main days. From introducing top-tier speakers to keeping the audience buzzing with energy, she’ll be guiding attendees through the action-packed schedule. And if that weren’t enough, on Thursday 22 May, Smedius will pull double duty as the master of ceremonies at the prestigious Nordic Game Awards.

“We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Matilda Smedius to NG25 Spring,” Nordic Game Program Director Jacob Riis says. “Her talent, charisma, and deep roots in gaming make her the perfect fit to elevate this year’s event.”

We asked Matilda a few introductory questions, and we’re looking forward to get to know her even better during NG25 Spring:

Nordic Game: Hey Matilda, please tell us a bit about yourself and your career this far?

Matilda: I’ve been a voice actor for my entire life and entered the gaming industry in 2018 as the voice of Brigitte in Overwatch 1 & 2. Since then I have gone on to streaming on my own Twitch channel, traveling the world doing meet & greets and Q&As at conventions, as well as hosting numerous charity streams and award shows for both Swedish and international audiences.

Nordic Game: What do you expect from hosting NG25 Spring?

Matilda: I’m excited to listen to and meet new people in the gaming industry, not only from Sweden but from all the Nordic countries.

Nordic Game: What’s your all-time favorite game, and why?

Matilda: Playing It Takes Two was an experience that just kept on giving. I have yet to play another game that can match that. It’s just brilliant.
