Victoria Alonso Leaves Studio Marvel

Victoria Alonso, the executive in charge of animation and vfx on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), exited the studio on March 17th. Her exit marks the end of a 17-year career at the studio, where she played a key role in developing the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Alonso has resigned as president of physical and post production, visual effects and animation production—a role she was promoted to in 2021. She was among the group of senior executives who were involved in shaping the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), spearheaded by president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito.
In addition to her management role, she was an executive producer on the studio’s projects since The Avengers (2012). The films produced under her leadership grossed over $25 billion globally.
Alonso’s departure comes at a time of significant change and restructuring at Disney under reinstated CEO Bob Iger. There has already been a significant workforce reduction (7,000 jobs) and a shift in strategy that will see Marvel launch fewer projects with less frequent releases going forward.
Alonso first joined the studio in 2006 as chief of visual effects and post production, and was upped to EVP of production in 2015. She co-produced every film in the MCU’s first phase, and was an executive producer on Avengers (2012) and all subsequent MCU features and series from the franchise for Disney+.
Before joining Marvel, Alonso worked as a VFX producer on feature films including Shrek (2001) and 50 First Dates (2004). THR broke the story first.
