Hotel Portofino goes back to Liguria
After the success of Season 1,Hotel Portofino goes back to Liguria

With the series’ immediate success in its first season, the period drama set in the 1920s Hotel Portofino has been renewed for a Season 2. Producers Walter Iuzzolino and Jo McGrath from Eagle Eye Drama, together with international sales agent Beta Film, announced the upcoming second season in Cannes, during MipTV.
The international cast is now filming in the Ligurian Riviera in northern Italy. The astonishing location has been defined as “one of the secrets of the series’ sudden success”. The show is produced by Walter Iuzzolino and Jo Mcgrath’s Eagle Eye Drama with the support of Genova Liguria Film Commission and in cooperation with Beta Film (production service is provided by Drugiplan), which also handles the international sales.
Already sold in 55 territories, Hotel Portofino has been launched in the UK, in Italy and Australia, and is soon-to-be-launched in the US, Scandinavia and the rest of Central Europe.
The show is one of Britbox UK’s highest streaming launch originals, the second most watched VOD series on Foxtel Australia, and the second highest debut for an international drama on Sky Italia’s Sky Series channel.
The US release on PBS is planned for Sunday, June 19th. PBS will release the series in the US on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel. It can also be streamed concurrently with broadcast on all station-branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org and the PBS Video app, available on iOS, Android, Roku streaming devices, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast and VIZIO.
The vibe around the show has been so positive, that the series was not only recommissioned for a Season 2, but it is also part of a larger integrated narrative branding operation, with a novel based on the series launched after the show’s proven success.
We met Walter Iuzzolino, Producer at Eagle Eye Drama, who uncovered the secret of the success of Hotel Portofino and gave us a sneak peek of Season 2.
