【Official Announcement】Production on “Incredibles 3” Officially Commences, Elastigirl Voice Actress Returns to Studio in March

The highly anticipated new installment in Pixar Animation Studios’ flagship series, “Incredibles 3,” has reached a critical milestone in its production process. Series core voice actress Holly Hunter recently revealed in an exclusive interview with a major media outlet that she has confirmed her return to voice Helen Parr, Elastigirl, and is scheduled to officially begin recording sessions in March of this year. This signals that this superhero family epic, absent from screens for nearly a decade, has moved from pre-production into active production.
In the interview, Hunter confirmed that although she is not yet privy to the full story, series creator and Oscar winner Brad Bird is penning the screenplay, undoubtedly providing a strong quality assurance for the film. Bird previously single-handedly crafted the classic first film in 2004 (winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Feature) and the box office miracle of the 2018 sequel (grossing a staggering $1.2 billion worldwide, ranking second in Pixar’s all-time box office history).
It is reported that “Incredibles 3” was officially announced with great fanfare at the Disney D23 Expo in 2024. The project recently completed its key personnel arrangements: directorial duties have been entrusted to Peter Sohn, who demonstrated exceptional talent with “Elemental,” while Bird will continue to shepherd the project as writer and core creative force. Original voice cast members Craig T. Nelson (Mr. Incredible), Samuel L. Jackson (Frozone), and others are expected to return.
The commencement of voice recording work is a crucial step in the film’s adherence to the standard Hollywood animation production pipeline. Typically, initial voice work provides the emotional and rhythmic blueprint for the precise performance of subsequent character animation. Hunter’s signal to begin work in March indicates the script is maturing and the project is advancing strictly according to the established schedule. The industry widely anticipates the film will likely meet global audiences in 2028.
In recent years, Pixar has continued to deepen the brand value of its flagship series. While sequels such as “Toy Story 5” (scheduled for June 2025) and “Coco 2” are steadily progressing, the studio has not abandoned exploration of original works. Following the market setback of “Elio” in 2025, “Incredibles 3,” as one of Pixar’s most successful franchises, carries the important mission of balancing artistic innovation with market expectations.
With Elastigirl “suiting up” once more, the new adventure of the Incredibles family has begun. Further details about the film are eagerly awaited in subsequent official releases from Pixar and Disney.
